Clothing, Tools, and Feeders
It’s always good to have a veil and gloves available when you are entering your hives. While Liam prefers to enter his hives in flip-flops, shorts, and a t-shirt, he always has his veil and gloves nearby. Sometimes the bees don’t appreciate such a casual attitude.
Alexander Veil with String $24.88
Cotton Gloves (Sm - XL) $12.60
Heavy Duty Leather Gloves (Sm - XL) $33.29
Hive Tools are a must. The bee’s propolis makes it nearly impossible to open a hive without a hive tool. We offer two different sizes. A smoker is as integral to beekeeping as bees are to beekeeping.
7” Hive Tool $6.62 10” Hive Tool $6.62
Smoker w/ Metal Guard $44.39
Lastly, your bees sometimes need to be fed. If there is not a sufficient nectar flow, supplemental feeding may be necessary. The feeders we offer are the simplest, and oftentimes the simplest designs work the best.
Boardman Feeder $4.75
Alternative Hives
Liam was born with a curiosity which is rarely satisfied. Instead of simply using just Langstroth hives, Liam manufactures both Warré hives and Top Bar Hives. The Warré hive was developed in France in the early 1900’s. The main goal of the Warré hive is to mimic the environment bees are accustomed to – the inside of a tree. A Top Bar Hive is also an older hive design, primarily used in developing nations because it can be used safely with more defensive bees, and constructed from inexpensive materials. Half Acre Farm’s Top Bar Hive is designed to allow standard Langstroth honey supers to be used for honey storage. Please allow 3-4 weeks for these hives.Warré Hive $175
Top Bar Hive $225
Beeswax
Beeswax is produced by the bees when they consume honey. Due to the demand, Half Acre Farm offers beeswax for sale. While we strive to offer only our local bee products, we do not have enough wax to meet the demand. We have therefore found the best source for wax and offer beeswax from the East Coast of the US. If we have local wax available, we will indicate that on the website.Bulk:

Bees for Sale
Bees are a unique type of livestock. They don’t have ear tags, it’s difficult to milk them, they don’t listen to your herding dogs, and when they’re having a bad day, you’re having a bad day. Once you’ve been touched by bees though, there’s nothing quite like it. Liam has fallen hard for his girls.
Even though bees can be tough customers, they tend to be in very high demand. Please order packages and nucs as early as possible to ensure delivery. If you are new to beekeeping, Liam recommends starting with two hives; if something happens to one of them, you’ve got backup. All of the following packages and nucs come with a queen.Italian Honey Bee Packages
Man has been enjoying honey for many thousands of years. Liam discovered the joy of bees five years ago. Maybe you’ve been keeping bees for 30 years, maybe you’re just starting out. Liam started with Italian bees. Available are the following packages of Italian bees:
3 lb Italian
April 2 pick up (All Day) $105.71
April 25th (Late Afternoon) $114.28
Carniolan/Russian/Italian 5 Frame Nucs
Ever since man has been domesticating livestock, man has been working to develop the best honey bee. For beekeepers in northern climates, northern raised queens and bees sometimes perform better than their southern sisters. These 5 frame nucs are Yankee bees with a healthy mix of Russians, Carniolans and Italians.

Buckfast Packages
Until 1921, no one knew what the Isle of Wight Disease was, or how to cure it. In 1921, it was discovered that tracheal mites were decimating populations of bees. Brother Adam developed the bees that are named after the Buckfast Abbey in England. Buckfast bees tend to be more docile, like Italians, but are extremely resistant to tracheal mites.
3 lb Buckfast
April 25th (Late Afternoon) SOLD OUT
All American Bees
Similar to the Buckfast bees, the All American bees tend to be quite resistant to tracheal mites, are quite productive, and tend to be docile. The All American bees are the preferred breed in the south and south west.
